PURBECK FILM FESTIVAL 2018 CLOSES

THE 22ND PURBECK FILM FESTIVAL CLOSES WITH OLIVIA HETREED & ANDY PATERSON Q&A EVENT

On Saturday, 27th October the Purbeck Film Festival screened two films to close this year’s event, with an early showing of the compelling 2017 Chilean film 'A Fantastic Woman' (Una Mujer Fantastica – 2017), selected to compete for the Golden Bear at the 67th Berlin International Film Festival and winner of the Best Foreign Language film in the 90th Academy Awards.

Olivia Hetreed, British Screenwriter, whose work includes the multi-award winning, BAFTA and Oscar Nominated ‘Girl With A Pearl Earring’  (2003) starring Colin Firth and Scarlett Johansson, and the award winning, critically-acclaimed radical adaptation of ‘Wuthering Heights’ (directed by Andrea Arnold), introduced the final screening of the 2018 Festival, ‘In Between’, and was joined by Andy Paterson, after the screening for an on-stage Q&A event.

Andy Paterson is a British Film Producer and Assistant Director, known for ‘The Railway Man’ (2013), ‘Girl With A Pearl Earring’ and ‘Burning Man’ and is married to Olivia Hetreed.

‘In Between’, a bittersweet, socio-political debut feature from Maysaloun Hamoud, is an empowering tale of three Palestinian women living in Tel Aviv, each fighting their own battles for independence and fulfilment.

With a fantastic discussion surrounding the film and related issues, and fascinating insight into the world of film writing, production and distribution of independent film in the UK and abroad from Olivia and Andy, the festival drew-to-a-close with huge applause from a full-house.

The Purbeck Film Festival would like to thank everyone for supporting this year’s fantastic event over the past weeks and we hope you will join us again next year. We are grateful to our all our sponsors, advertisers, audiences, patrons, friends and volunteers, without whom we could not do what we do.
