In Liège, Belgium, at a state-run shelter for teenmothers or mothers-to-be, Jessica, Perla, Julie, Ariane and Naïma are five teenagers hoping fora better life for themselves and their babies. These teen mums are taught how to take care of their babies or prepare them for adoption, amid drug addiction, mental illness and family conflict in this poignant, compassionate work of unforced social realism. The Dardenne brothers have again established their gold standard for socially conscious cinema, and the stories told here are simultaneously heart-wrenching, moving, and hopeful.
