A view from within Iraq during the Gulf War of the 90s, but here its through the eyes of nine-year-old Lamia, who has been tasked in her school class to bake a cake that will form the centrepiece of the classs celebrations of their supreme leader Saddam Hussein. The tragedy of the warring nation is reduced, from Lamias perspective, to sourcing eggs and sugar as well as staying safe amidst the barely contained chaos. A simple, colourful and moving film filled with fascinating detail of a crumbling regime and of a child trying to be a child under the harshest of circumstances.
