A view from within Iraq during the Gulf War of the �90s, but here it�s through the eyes of nine-year-old Lamia, who has been tasked in her school class to bake a cake that will form the centrepiece of the class�s celebrations of their supreme leader � Saddam Hussein. The tragedy of the warring nation is reduced, from Lamia�s perspective, to sourcing eggs and sugar as well as staying safe amidst the barely contained chaos. A simple, colourful and moving film filled with fascinating detail of a crumbling regime and of a child trying to be a child under the harshest of circumstances.
